She's here!!!

We are proud to announce the arrival of the newest member of our family: Lydia Joy Hill!

I started having contractions at 5:00AM on Sunday morning. It was a long labor with her finally being born at 6:20AM this morning, January 26, 2009, after three long hours of pushing. I'm still high on the fact that I was able to have her vaginally, and at home! I feel like I'm on top of the world and am so thrilled to finally have her here in my arms. She weighs 9lbs 14ozs and is 21.25 inches long. She looks remarkably like Emmy at this stage, though her hair is slightly, slightly lighter and she has her daddy's feet instead of mine. It'll be a lot of fun to watch and see in what ways they're similar and how they're different as she gets bigger.

Kurtis was so wonderful helping me in labor. There's no way I could have done this without him. He was my rock! I love him so much and love watching him hold his new baby girl with a look of total adoration on his face. He's such an awesome husband and father. Emmy is totally in love with Lydia, though she insists that her name is "Emmy's Baby Sister", not Lydia. All she wants to do is hold her and give her loves. She got really excited when she heard her cry for the first time. We've been telling her that new babies can cry a lot, so she was slightly dissapointed that she was absolutely quiet and asleep the first time she met her. So she was overjoyed to finally here her go "waa, waa"! She also informed Grandma Bunn that her baby sister is little, after Grandma commented on how big she looks for a newborn.

Kurtis has the next week off so we will be busy hanging out as a new family of four and enjoying our babymoon!

My last belly pic with Lydia still inside.

Lydia's newborn check at 2.5 hours. She was 9lbs 14ozs, 21.25 inches long.

Her first bath with Mommy. (The water's brown because it's an herbal bath.)

Congragulations on your new baby daughter! How wonderful for Emmy to have a baby sister.
You can know that the great-great Grama Jane is watching from the Spirit World and beaming that her Rhonda Jane now has two little girls. I remember how excited she was when you were born and they named you "Rhonda Jane." That's what I remember...I don't have my PAF records here to verify my memory.
Love, Great-great Uncle Walt and G-g Aunt Eileen....wow that makes us seem older than dirt "to be great-great something"

Congratulations, she's gorgeous! And Emmy sounds like such a cute big sister. What made you decide to do a home-birth? That's so brave

Congrats! She is beautiful! I would love to know more about your home birth and what that involved! I am such a baby that I know that I could only do it in a hospital with alot of drugs!
